Well the fights were a blast as usual, but I was a bit disappointed with some of the results. It wasn't due to a split decision or anything like that but more like a weight cutting issue I have. I think its BS to allow a guy to cut down to 180lbs from 210lbs knowing damn well he'll be sitting above the 200# mark by fight time. Example was the Chase/Derrick fight. Chase is one HELL of a good fighter but Derrick is so freaking huge size wise that you know for a fact he's well over the 200lb mark. I think if a person can be of the same weight for a week before the fight than everything should be good to go. If however you have an OX of a guy today that was 30lbs lighter yesterday from a water weight drop, he should be fighting in his own natural weight class. Unless of course he can't handle his own weight class because he knows he'll get beat down there. Either way, IMO Derrick is a chicken s**t and is scared to stay with his own weight.
Sorry for the rant.

It is what it is, if you can get to weight for the weigh ins that's all that matters, it happens in HS wrestling and it happens in all the pros. I would probably have to cut to 135 or lower to actually fight guys my size. My problem with it is I really don't like weight cutting in High School, I think there should be a window for weight, kids shouldn't need to worry about that. But what do you do?
